Welcome to my new blog. I've recently been teaching myself to cook, and I'm thinking this might be a nice way to archive what culinary discoveries I make. Also, it might generate feedback, suggestions or discussion.
I know it's a very simple title, but "Culinary Adventures in Suburbia Experimenting with the Cuisines of Various World Cultures on a Budget, a Time-frame, a Wing and a Prayer" dot blogspot dot com was really far too long. And slightly ridiculous.
First Recipe:
Hot Chocolate
Obviously this is a very personal thing, people have so many different ways of making it that it's a matter of taste. I quite like Cadbury's hot chocolate drink (the powder-based one in the purple jar). The trick is to make a paste with a little milk and a little sugar in your cup while the water's boiling, and then pour the water in on top. It gives a nice frothy texture to your drink!
I'm not a mad one for syrups or extra flavours in there, but I do love Starbucks' peppermint syrup. It's a shame they only sell it around Christmas time!
(If you live in Dublin and want a particularly luxurious Hot Chocolate, head for the Italian Quarter to the small café next to the mural. They have about 20 varieties, each more decadent than the last!)
